Why the Anglesea Fire Brigade needs a new fire station.
The value to the Anglesea Fire Brigade will include:
• Redevelopment of the current Anglesea CFA station to accomodate the latest in fire fighting vehicles and equipment;
• Ability to accommodate an increased voluntary membership and provide quality training facilities;
• Creating a facility for the whole Anglesea community;
• Assisting the CFA to bring forward the timeframe for an upgrade of the current station;
• Leadership and closer relationships between community, business and government;
• Heightened profile for the CFA organisation, locally, nationally and internationally.
Key community features will include:
• Being the first such fire station in the country thus setting a benchmark not just for fire services but all government buildings
• Showing what can be achieved by determined volunteers, government business and the community when they all work together;
• Providing access to ongoing education to between 20,000 and 40,000 students who visit Anglesea each year.

Key environmental features of the new station will include:
• Achieving beyond compliance design outcomes with respect to energy, water, materials and waste management
• Utilising appropriate rating tools to rate the building
• Utilising passive and active solar design to create a facility which uses little or no energy for lighting, heating, cooling and equipment
• Installing renewable energy systems for power generation, hot water and space heating and cooling needs
• Establishing the facility as a Carbon neutral, or carbon positive model
• Self-sufficiency for water; onsite water collected and reused.
• Use of sustainable materials throughout
• Using the facility as a community, government and industry demonstration project to allow for a broader understanding of sustainability across all sectors of the community.
